IDES (Enrollment site for International Data Exchange Service)

The Enrollment site for International Data Exchange Service (IDES) is now open for users. IDES is a tool which should be used by Financial Institutions (FI) and Host Country Tax Authorities (HCTA) to transmit and exchange FATCA data with the United States. The FFIs are required to use this tool for reporting of FATCA information in accordance with the Form 8966. The platform is not designed to be used for 1042 reporting purposes. The enrollment process includes obtaining a digital certificate from the IRS, creating a user account, validation and approval procedures (can differ based on the IGA). The precondition for an FI is registration with the IRS and receiving a GIIN.
